Mohair Teddy Bear Fabric – Steiff Schulte – Chai Latte 11mm Sparse

Steiff Schulte Mohair Teddy Bear Fabric in Chai Latte is a wonderful fabric for making teddy bears, repairing vintage bears and other toys too.

Chai Latte mohair has a 11mm, pale beige sparse pile with a pale red/brown backing.  The pile has been sparsely woven making it particularly good for making small bears and toys.  This mohair has been produced in Germany by the Steiff Schulte company.

A good cotton thread to match this mohair is Gutermann Cotton 1225 and a good Extra Strong thread is Gutermann Top Stitch 139.

This mohair fabric is available in 1/16m, 1/8m, 1/4m and 1/2m pieces (the width of the roll is approximately 140cm including the selvedges and, therefore, 1/16th is approx 25cm deep x 35cm wide, 1/8th is approx 50cm deep x 35cm wide, a 1/4m will be approximately 50cm deep x 70cm wide and 1/2m is approx 100cm deep x 70cm wide).
