Funky Friends Melody Teddy Bear Sewing Pattern

Melody the Memory Bear from the Funky Friends Factory is just the sweetest sitting memory bear pattern. This cute baby bear was designed with keepsake toys in mind and therefore, you can use the spaces on her ears, arms, foot pads and legs for dates & initials.

The bear turns sentimental fabrics into a cuddly teddy bear that you can cling close to. This makes it a great pattern for those with lots of pre-loved clothes as they can be turned into treasured keepsakes. Memory bears are also great at commemorating exciting events such as a graduation or a special birthday whilst giving that occasion an adorable physical reminder.

Melody sits up on her own and is 31cm (12″) tall. She is a sitting toy that does not require joints which makes this pattern friendly for less experienced sewists.

Melody can be sewn using most fabrics but it is recommended to line fabrics with interfacing if they are thin or stretchy.

The full size paper pattern comes with a 12 page instruction booklet. In addition to this, Funky Friends also have tutorial videos to help guide you through your bear making journey.

Materials you will need to make Funky Friends Melody Memory Bear:-

• Main Fabric – 45cm x 110cm wide (18″ x 43½” wide)
• Contrast Fabric (ears and foorpads) – 20cm x 22cm wide (8″ x 8¼” wide)*
• 18mm Safety Eyes
• Embroidery thread for nose and mouth
• Scrap of felt for nose and mouth
• Toy stuffing
• Sewing thread
• Iron-on light/medium weight interfacing (this is needed only if you are using thin or very stretchy fabrics or, if you are using a mix of different types of fabrics)

*If you are making a baby keepsake bear, you will need approximately 6-8 pieces of baby clothing.

Equipment you will need:-

• A sewing needle & pins
• Fabric scissors with a fine tip
• Paper scissors
• Fine tipped fabric pen or a pencil
• Craft Glue & firm card for the templates (cereal boxes are fine!)
• A stuffing tool, haemostats or a chopstick!
