Penny Patch Rabbit Country Folk Pattern by Brenda Walker

This Penny Patch pattern, from the Country Folk range, makes an adorable felt rabbit with a little heart patch. Created by the talented Brenda Walker, Penny stands approximately 28cm (11″) tall.  Brenda also completes her patterns with easy to follow instructions and says “I design and create decorations for the home inspired by the Northamptonshire countryside!”

Penny can be sewn by hand or by machine (but probably easier by machine!).

Materials you will need:

.    45cm (18″) felt square (100% 0r 30% wool felt)

.    4 x 12cm (1/2″) buttons to fasten the arms and legs (or you could use 16mm safety joints)

.   Scrap of black felt for the nose

.   Fat Eighth of fabric for the foot pads, ears and tie

.   Scrap of fabric for the heart

.   Fusible webbing or iron-on-interfacing

.   2 x 6mm black beads for eyes (or safety eyes)

.   Stranded embroidery thread to match the heart fabric

.  Extra strong thread to attach the arms, legs and eyes

Polyfibre stuffing (250g will be plenty)

.  5″ doll needle

 

Equipment you will need:

.     A sewing needle

.     Fabric scissors

.     Paper scissors

.     Tailor’s chalk, fabric pen or a pencil

.     An iron (for the fusible webbing)

 

Stitches used:

.     Back stitch

.     Ladder stitch
